Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation is delighted to launch our brand new, STREAM Education Taster sessions for schools in the Wakefield district and beyond.
Following in the footsteps of football and Rugby Unions clubs like Everton and Harlequins, the Foundation are the first Rugby League team in the country to invest in the technology, providing children with the opportunity to combine both sport with robotics.
Throughout the programme, children will get the opportunity to experience new technology, opening their eyes to potential careers in Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
Working with our partners at Sphero Sports, we have created a curriculum for both Rugby League and Football, which allows the children to progress through several coding activities, which take the children on a journey from ‘grassroots’ to ‘academy’, and then hopefully to the ‘first team’ curriculum level.
Through a number of packages created, schools will be able to buy into our six-week and 12-week STREAM Education packages, where we would come into the school for two hours a week, for the set period.
Taster sessions in the Summer two half-term for schools to see the technology and packages first-hand, with children given the opportunity to use and play with the robots.
We sent some of the robots to the first team players at Wakefield Trinity, setting them three challenges to see how they got on, can your school beat their times? We have some great prizes on offer for any student who can beat the combined times of Mason or Kelepi.
For further information on how your school can get involved in the taster sessions, or book one of our packages for the 2021-22 academic year, please contact our Head of Education, Luke Shale, at email@example.com.
