Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation is delighted to announce that we will host the first Physical Disability Rugby League festival of 2022.
Held at the home of Eastmoor Dragons, these festivals bring together all the PDRL teams laced throughout the country, getting them together for one big Rugby League festival in front of hundreds of spectators.
Wakefield Trinity will be joined by last year’s winners Warrington Wolves, Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers next Saturday, when they step out on the field for the first time in 2022.
After some time off due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 2021 saw Trinity challenge for success again, reaching the PDRL Grand Final for the second time in three years.
After a couple of draws against Leeds and Castleford in the opening two rounds, Trinity pushed on, coming second in the table ahead of the season’s showpiece event.
However, just like in 2019, it wasn’t to be, as Warrington took the victory on the day, taking home the trophy after a hard-fought battle at St. John’s University.
It will be a bit different in the forthcoming campaign, though, reverting to the festival format which worked well in previous years.
With a long season ahead, Trinity will be hoping to push on and gain a good couple of results on Saturday.
