The Big Feed: Extended

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation are delighted to confirm that we have received backing to continue The Big Feed until the end of June.

Due to the outstanding support shown by Wakefield Council and all of our partners, we have received the funding to carry on supporting the elderly and vulnerable over the next three months.

Since the start of the 2021 event, over 9000 meals have already been provided to the Wakefield Community, hitting targets of well over 1200 per week.

This new end date will see The Big Feed end on 30th June, which will see an overall supply of over 10,000 extra meals provided in that time.

This extension would not have been possible without the support of Wakefield Council, LD Nutrition and all the partners who have continued their outstanding distribution of meals across the district.

Speaking upon the extension of the event, project lead, James Stephenson, stated, “We are delighted that we have received further backing to continue the event for another three months.

“How the recipients have responded to the meals has been fantastic and we are pleased we can continue to support them throughout the prolonged pandemic.”

While, Cllr Maureen Cummings, followed, “The way that the Wakefield community has been supported over the past few months – including Christmas – has been incredible and we are proud to play our part.

“After delivering the meals myself, I get a first-hand view of the difference it is making.

“What an outstanding initiative and I am delighted the project has been allowed to continue.”

Following the above news that The Big Feed will be extended until at least the end of June, our hotline will continue on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s (10am -1pm) throughout this period.

To order a meal, please call 01924 211 611 (Option 6) on any of the days and times provided above and we will be sure to get some freshly-cooked meals delivered straight to the door.
