Wakefield Trinity are excited to launch our ‘Summer Series’ for 2021. The programme will see Trinity offer extended player development opportunities for U15 and U16s boys who are not currently involved on a scholarship programme.
The Summer Series will see Trinity run six training sessions and participate in four fixtures, including a double header against York City Knights.
This open access programme will provide further participation and development opportunities for young players who have aspirations to progress into the professional game, including potential talent transfer athletes from other sports.
Josh Riding, Rugby League Development Manager, said, “We are delighted to finally announce the plans for our Summer Series. The Tri-Series programme we have run in recent years has been a huge success and on the back of that we have been able to develop an even bigger concept for this year,” he explained.
“The programme will provide another opportunity for players to train with Wakefield Trinity and hopefully secure a place in our scholarship and academy systems.
“In recent years, we have seen players who participated in this programme progress towards a full-time environment. Josh Phillips, who attended in 2019, is now playing for our Academy and Samuel Eseh is part of our Betfred Super League squad and made his first-team debut in 2021.”
