about ncs

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a once-in-a-lifetime government-backed opportunity open to all 15-17-year-olds in England. Running the summer and autumn, the experience helps young people build skills for work and life, while they take on new challenges and meet new friends.

To date, approximately 600,000 young people have taken part in NCS across the country. The experience is specifically designed to bring together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater self-awareness, responsibility and confidence that will stick with them for life. Additionally, it also looks great on any CV or UCAS statement

about our programme

The unique three-week full-time programme is split into three different phases:

Firstly, teens will experience the freedom of staying away from home at an outdoor activity centre where they will take part in adventurous activities like rock-climbing, canoeing, hiking and archery.

Next, they’ll be staying away from home again; but this time in university-style accommodation. Taking on challenges such as cooking and budgeting as well as learning some key transferable skills for their future selves.

Finally, the young people will get their entrepreneurial hats on to think up some ways to do good in their local area; dedicating 30 hours to planning and delivering their own social action projects.

At the end of the experience, participants will graduate from the NCS programme at a special event for both family and friends at The Mobile Rocket Stadium. This event is not only an opportunity to showcase the fantastic work they have achieved during the summer but also to receive a certificate signed by the Prime Minister!

Finally, here at NCS we never ask for more than £50 for your young person to come away with us. This £50 covers everything from activities and accommodation to food and travel in the residential phases Financial assistance is also. Spaces are limited and need to be booked in advance. You can sign up online at: www.wearencs.com or to find out more about the experience, email the NCS team at ncs@wakefieldtrinity.com
