Outwood Academy Trust increase Big Feed volunteer pool by 50

The Outwood Grange Academies Trust has offered the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation a massive 50 volunteers for this week’s Big Feed.

The Outwood Trust, who have partnered with the Foundation through our successful SSP project, are a not-for-profit organisation who sponsor multiple primary, junior and secondary schools situated across the north of England.

The Trust have high expectations and are all about putting the education of their students first, putting in tireless hours both in and outside the classroom, playing a key role in the communities they serve.

Even after a tough year for many schools, Outwood were keen to play a part in the Foundation’s inaugural Big Feed event.

Wasting no time in getting involved, the Trust supplied the Foundation with over 50 Volunteers, consisting of teachers, support staff, members of some families and trainee teachers, as they gave up their hard-earnt free-time to help the members of our community.

Living up to their reputation for helping better their surroundings, Julie Slater, Chief Executive of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, says that they had no hesitation but to get involved.

“This is about supporting our local community, which is what we are all about,” Julie explained.

“We have a long-standing relationship with the Foundation, who do outstanding work in the community, and we are proud to work in collaboration with them, in addition to working with Wakefield MDC & WDH to provide healthy meals to those in need over the Christmas period.

“It has been such a tough year for everyone and we put a lot of value on kindness, we have seen our students & colleagues go above and beyond in the run-up to Christmas to do as much as they can to support others, who are not as fortunate.”

Alongside this, the Foundation are also excited to announce that our Big Feed volunteer scale has topped 142, with all aspects of the community pulling together at this tough time.

Alongside the mammoth effort from Outwood, we are delighted to announce that we have also secured volunteers from Minster Law, Turning Point, NCS Social Action, Wakefield Trinity Ladies Football and Rugby League, Wakefield Council and Wakefield District Housing.

On behalf of everyone at the Foundation, we would like to offer a huge thank you to all who have put their name to volunteer throughout the eight-day event. Outstanding.
