Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation was delighted to hold a festival amongst Waterton Academy Trust schools in aid of Rob Burrow and the MND Association.
Starting the week in style, we invited over 13 schools to take part in a big Rugby League festival on the Be Well Support Stadium pitch, taking part in inter-school competitions amongst other schools in their age group.
Included in the day’s session were students from Walton Primary Academy, Normanton Common, Normanton Junior, Sharlston Community School, South Kirby Academy, Cherry Tree Academy, Wrenthorpe Academy, Ackworth Mill Dam, West End Academy, Kings Meadow Academy, Churchfield Primary School.
This unique opportunity was all brought together through the Waterton Academy and their aim to raise money through sponsorship activities over the course of the week, with Wednesday being classed as a ‘wear your colours day.’
Following all the week’s activities, pupils will be invited down to Wakefield Trinity’s game against Castleford to walk around the perimeter of the pitch with a bucket collection for our numerous charities.
Speaking on the day’s games, Head of Education & NCS, Luke Shale, said, ”We were delighted to partner with Waterton for today’s Rugby League Festival.
“It is a great thing to be a part of and we want to help in any way we can. After formulating a partnership with the trust last year, it is great to be able to help out and offer the pupils a chance to play on the Belle Vue pitch.”
