Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation

Be The Difference

As a foundation, we are proud to announce our new programme ‘Be The Difference’ which aims to be the catalyst to lifelong social action within its participants.

About the project

Young people aged between 11 – 15 will be supported in their participation in our social action programme at the Mobile Rocket Stadium. Led by qualified instructors, the young people will participate in group-based activities that promote understanding of social action and the difference they can make within their communities.

To put this knowledge into practical application, the five-day programme will incorporate a combination of delivering a hands-on social action project with a local community partner as well as fundraising for their community partner. This fundraising will be participant led in its content, promoting teamwork and communication skill development. In addition, the opportunity to directly volunteer alongside Foundation staff will support an underlying objective to raise confidence and self-esteem in the young people.

more details

Taking place in Easter Half Term Holidays (10am – 4pm), this is the perfect opportunity for participants to meet like-minded young people in a safe and Covid-secure environment whilst picking up a load of new skills on the way. The programme is free to all participants and places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Social action is about supporting a young person to think outside of their comfort zone, and complete tasks which support their own learning whilst impacting the lives of others. Whether it be meeting new people, or being responsible for leading tasks as a volunteer, our staff will be with them every step of the way.
