How our SSP package works | Behind the Scenes

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation partner with Normanton Junior Academy (Waterton Trust) to show how our SSP provision works behind the scenes.

Starting in September 2021, our Trinity Education package hit a new level when we added a new trust in Waterton to our portfolio, partnering back with headteacher Luke Welsh.

Over the past 11 weeks, the Foundation has started to implement our very own curriculum, working alongside the class teachers to develop their PE Delivery and understating, as well as delivering and structuring a lunchtime club, afterschool club, and a one-on-one morning programme.

This will go on top of our already well-established partnership with Outwood Grange Academies Trust, as we continue to broaden the physical education in Wakefield.

Speaking upon the video’s release, Head of Education & Training, Luke Shale, said, “I am delighted to be able to release this video and how everyone what we get up to in a normal day.

“Hopefully, this will show everyone how our SSP package works, including how students and teachers get up-skilled throughout the yearly provision.

“We are really pleased to be able to partner with Waterton Trust and, hopefully, add more schools to our portfolio in the future.”

While, Normanton Junior Academy Headteacher, Luke Welsh, followed, “I have previously worked with Wakefield Trinity for a number of years and when I joined Normanton, it was my first thing to contact the Foundation and put that provision in place.

“Having the luxury of a P.E Specialist every week in school is something the school has not had in place, so having superb teacher CPD and a weekly provision in just four weeks has transformed the school.”
