Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation is delighted to announce that Walk with Wakey raised over huge funds to support the continuation of our projects.
On Saturday afternoon, over 15 participants geared up to walk from Wakefield’s Mobile Rocket Stadium to Castleford’s Mend-A-Hose Jungle ahead of the side’s west Yorkshire clash.
Over the course of the day, the party walked over 8.5 miles in just over two-and-a-half hours, completing the walk at 6:45pm.
Event lead and participant, James Stephenson, was delighted with the amount of money raised and hopes 2022 will be both bigger and better, “I am really pleased with how everyone pulled together to support our projects.
“With the support of Cllr Maureen Cummings, Minster Law and everyone else, I am hugely proud of what we achieved.”
To celebrate our 15th year as a Rugby League charity, Walk with Wakey was introduced to bring further funds into the organisation to support our current and future projects.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the Foundation has used the power of community spirit to support both the elderly & vulnerable, most recently with our Big Feed and Connect Again projects.
With recent support, the Foundation will continue our dedicated work in the community, hopefully providing for another 15 years.
We would also like to take the time to thank both Minster Law – who supplied six participants – as well as Cllr Maureen Cummings – who raised over £800 on her own.
