Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation can confirm our Disability sides and Touch Rugby League programme will be moving to Eastmoor ahead of the 2021 season.
Previously working from Crigglestone, our sides will be bolstered by larger facilities as both the Physical and Learning Disability Rugby League returns following a long lay-off brought about by the pandemic.
As well as being a community Rugby League facility situated in the heart of the city, Eastmoor hosted the first round of PDRL fixtures back in 2018, holding a special place in the Foundation’s heart.
From starting as an inclusive sport in 2018, the sport has really found its feet within the Rugby League pyramid and offers players from all backgrounds the opportunity to take part in the sport they love.
This was highlighted in the recent Trinity documentary, airing on Amazon Prime, showing how far the disability game has come in recent years, with the move to Eastmoor cementing even more intent to grow the game.
Speaking upon the move, Disability Rugby League Team Manager, Anthony Baker, said, “We are delighted to get the deal over the line and call Eastmoor our home for 2021.
“We have had a great few years at Crigglestone and would like to thank them for everything they have done.
“Now Physical and Learning Disability Rugby League is making a long-awaited return, we cannot wait to get going.”
While, Director of Rugby at Eastmoor Dragons, Darren Fisher, followed, ”It is outstanding news that Wakefield Trinity PDRL will call Eastmoor their home ahead of the new season.
“The sport has played a pivotal part in the history of Eastmoor over the past few years and to host a team on a full-time basis is great news.”
Everyone at the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation would like to thank everyone at Crigglestone for the outstanding support over the past few years. The programme wouldn’t be where it is now without it.
