Age UK Wakefield District has showcased their desire and commitment to their community, providing the Foundation with support throughout the Big Feed 2021.
On 22nd February, the Foundation set about to deliver around 900 meals per week to the people of Wakefield, smashing this target over the first 21 days with over 3000 meals already distributed.
Supported by Wakefield Council, meals – supplied by LD Nutrition – will be delivered to the more elderly and vulnerable members of our community, who we continue to support throughout the pandemic.
With a large-scale operation such as this, the Foundation was searching for potential channels to spread the word and cater to a wider population as possible.
As a company that prides itself on supporting the elderly, Age UK Wakefield District have shown tremendous support already, helping a large number of residents receive a freshly-cooked meal.
During the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, Age UK Wakefield District has been contacted by many people, not knowing where to turn, asking for extra support with their basic food shopping.
Working with us and the community we support, Age UK Wakefield District has allowed us to help those in need connect with The Big Feed project.
Following routine welfare checks, they uncovered the true feelings of those receiving meals from the Big Feed, showing the benefits this project can bring.
“The meals are delicious, look forward to the delivery every time,” explained one recipient.
“I hate having to waste them, therefore, I have ordered a new fridge/freezer to make sure that are no waste.
“I am so grateful to receive them as I haven’t had a hot cooked meal since August last year.”
