Day 21 of our Wakefield Trinity Advent Calendar looks back on our most recent project, Active Lives.
Working with both Live Well Wakefield and West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership, the project aims to tend to those living with MSK (Musculoskeletal) and other joint-related issues.
According to the World Health Organisation, around 1.71 billion people have Musculoskeletal problems worldwide, with the conditions being a leading contributor to disability across the globe.
This is causing early retirement from work, lower levels of well-being and reduced ability to participate in society.
As a Foundation, we are committed to ensuring that everyone, no matter their condition, is supported in limiting the problems caused by MSK.
Over the past few weeks, our Health, Wellbeing & Inclusion department has looked to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of individuals as well as making sure participants have a greater awareness of how they can self-manage their conditions with a reduced reliance on pain medication.
Speaking upon the success of the programme before the Christmas break, Head of Health, Wellbeing & Inclusion, Colan Leung, said, “This programme is important in so many ways and to see how the participants have reacted to the different sessions.
“After speaking with a few of them over the past couple of weeks, it is great to see the impact this is having on their everyday lives.
“I can’t wait to continue the project in the new year.”
