Day 13 of our Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation Advent Calendar looks back on yet another busy year for our NCS programme.
After 2020 was extremely restricted department, 2021 promised so much more for the young people of Wakefield, with NCS a top priority on the Foundation’s to-do list.
Following four months of preparation, the first programme of the year kicked off with participants from Featherstone Academy taking part in a two-week programme back in June.
With the first set of young people checked off, preparations were already well underway for our next set of participants as the summer and autumn waves kicked off with a trip to Dearne Valley Country Park and Xscape’s with some teambuilding exercises.
After a trip out, the participants were back at the stadium for two weeks filled with visits from Loudspeaker and Gamcare as well as a trip to one of our dedicated community partners.
With their volunteering done, it was social action time, as the young people set out to raise some funds for their community.
After multiple waves and countless hours of volunteering, our 2021 NCS participants raised an incredible £1,889 to support our local communities, something NCS Co-ordinator, Mason Atkinson,is extremely proud of.
“I am delighted with the amount of effort our NCS participants have put in over the course of a difficult year.
“The dedication they have shown to raise that amount of money is incredible and something we, as a Foundation, are extremely proud of.
“Here is to an even better 2022!”
