Day one of the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation advent calendar sees us focus on Community Club pre-match festivals after a successful 2021.
Following a 2020 that was disrupted largely down to the pandemic, 2021 brought fresh optimism for our community clubs as behind closed doors was no more and fans started clicking through the turnstiles once again.
A 2019-esque feel to gamedays was much needed, and was epitomised no more than when our pre-match, community club tournaments restarted in late May.
As a club that relies heavily on its community activity, Wakefield Trinity was delighted to be in the position, once again, to invite all of our junior sides down to the Mobile Rocket Stadium to play on the hallowed Belle Vue turf.
Speaking come the end of, despite the pandemic, a very successful year, Community Engagement Manager, James Stephenson, was delighted with how 2021 was conducted by all the clubs involved.
“Despite challenges we faced caused by Covid-19, to see all of our community clubs back on the pitch and taking part in our pre-match festivals was great to see.
“We are fortunate to have a lot of dedicated clubs in and around the district, and we a proud to offer them the opportunity to take part in these occasions.
“We hope that 2022 will be bigger and better, with more young fans entering through the turnstiles in the coming year.
